It is our pleasure to welcome you to our website and introduce you to the heart of what we do. The Enabled Centre is a day service provision and part of the charity Disability Direct, supporting disabled people in Derby and the surrounding areas.

The Enabled Centre has a diverse customer base, including members of all ages, ethnicities, disabilities, and backgrounds.
The staff ensures that all sessions are inclusive by tailoring activities and support to meet each person’s unique needs, underpinning the right to choice and control. Our dedicated team brings a wealth of experience, warmth, and professionalism to everything we do.
We work closely with families, carers, and other professionals because collaborative working is vital to ensure a holistic, consistent, and person-centred approach that supports each individual’s needs, preferences, and overall well-being.

Our Support
We have different charges based on the level of support needed at the centre. Currently, there are four levels based on the level of care and support needed. To determine how much you will be charged, an initial assessment will be completed before you attend the centre.
Anyone wishing to attend the centre is required to visit and take a look around, where we will conduct an initial assessment; following this, we offer a free three-hour taster session designed to provide the opportunity to experience the setting.

Overview of support and care offered
One-to-one support from our care and support staff. This includes continuous support and supervision with engaging in activities, communication, medication, prompting and encouragement, behaviours that challenge, feeding and toileting. This will also include one or two members of staff’s full support with personal care if required.
High support includes frequent supervision and support throughout the session with two of the following: medication, communication, prompting and encouragement, occasional behaviours, feeding, toileting, participation in activities and group supervision. This will also include one or two members of staff with full support for personal care if required.
Medium support includes occasional supervision and support throughout the session with one of the following: medication, communication, prompting and encouragement, feeding, toileting, participation in activities and group supervision. The individual is generally able to engage independently with little support. This will include one member of staff for full support with personal care if required.
The individual is independent and can engage in activities on their own. Minimal support is required only during group supervision or when setting up an activity.

We will then arrange a visit for you to tour the setting and discuss the activities and support we offer. Following your visit, if you like what you see, we can schedule an initial assessment for you and your representative (family/carer) to discuss your care needs, preferences, and future goals. Once we have collected all the information about you and your expectations for attending the centre, we will arrange a taster session.
The taster session lasts for 3 hours and is free!
This will provide you with the chance to meet the team, engage in available activities, and experience our service. We will then discuss which days and times you would prefer to attend. Days and times are subject to availability.
